Qubba

A small domed shrine marking the tomb of a local saint (walī) and serving as a pilgrimage focus for the surrounding community. Qubbas are scattered across the rural Maghreb, typically built in whitewashed lime or earth, and many southern Moroccan ksour and douars are organised around — or pay annual respects to — a nearby qubba and its associated moussem festival. The qubba sits in the same religious landscape as the zawiya but is a smaller, place-based, often more popular foundation rather than an institutional brotherhood seat.
