Marsad Drâa
Marsad Drâa is a regional preservation initiative based in the Drâa Valley, focused on the documentation and conservation of the valley's earthen heritage and on the revitalisation of traditional pisé construction skills through workshop programmes. The initiative is led by the architect and heritage practitioner Carlos Perez Marin and operates principally at Tamnougalt and other Mezguita-region sites.
The Marsad Drâa workshops train younger practitioners in traditional pisé restoration techniques, working alongside the surviving generation of master masons. The programme is small in scale but represents one of the few continuous regional initiatives addressing the disappearance of the maalem economy directly through hands-on knowledge transfer.
Like several of the actors documented in this archive, Marsad Drâa operates with limited public-facing infrastructure. Its work is more visible in academic publications referencing the Drâa Valley than in direct institutional outputs.
