CIMS Carleton
Carleton Immersive Media Studio, Carleton University
The Carleton Immersive Media Studio is a research unit at Carleton University in Ottawa specialising in digital heritage documentation, particularly photogrammetry, laser scanning, and Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM). The studio has been involved in heritage documentation projects internationally, including the Kasbah Taourirt project in partnership with CERKAS and the Getty Conservation Institute.
CIMS provided the technical heritage documentation methodology at Taourirt — combined photogrammetric, total-station, and CAD-based recording producing the integrated site atlas that subsequent conservation interventions have used as their reference. The studio also delivered training to local CERKAS staff to embed the documentation capability within the Moroccan institutional structure.
